I just realized that interjections are allowed to have their own parentheticals, so they can't be in the aftertree and part for the simple formula productions.   I should probably wait before sending this lest I see any other mistakes, but I think this will be the last for the evening.  This is the bottom line:

No explicit sentence after "hi" or after a simple formula with a following aftertree.
