I know that Mexican Spanish does, as well as for x in certain environments
(like "Mexico" /'mehiko/ in others it's /s/, usually when next to a
consonant: mixta, ixtapa, for instance)

because of course it is quite obvious that the house that would be built
without that desire, that desire to communicate, would not look as your
house does today.
