Is the detective Sherlock Holmes less of a detective than the detective
Alan Pinkerton [or some other RL detective]?

I believe that Lojban should not have embedded in its design either a yes or a no answer to that question. The answer to that question is a hopefully unnecessary metaphysical assumption.
