So WRT the above I think And is probably right that xVV shouldn't be so freely given to it. > {bi'ai} has already been proposed for {naku ka'e naku}, > which corresponds to {romu'ei} if {ka'e} is {su'omu'ei}. > > I still don't understand the distinction you make between > {ka'e} and {su'omu'ei}. Could you give an example in Lojban > where one would be true and the other false? I can give you a distinction between kakne and cumki: cumki fa lenu mi zatfa'i la barda jamfu kakne lenu mi zatfa'i la barda jamfu The first is true, the latter false. I think anything which is true for kakne is true for cumki, but not the other way around. I would think cumki corresponds to one kind of su'omu'ei, and kakne to another kind of su'omu'ei (similarly, nibli corresponds to one kind of romu'ei, and nitcu or bilga correspond to another kind of romu'ei). As I said in the other thread, I'm not thoroughly convinced the above is the best way to look at things, and my familiarity with modal logic is minimal. > >(note that doing as such would make for counterfactual conditionals > >taking no more syllables than indicative ones: mi xaugi xagji gi > >citka vs. mi ganai xagji gi citka). > > That means that if I were hungry then I would (necessarily) eat, > doesn't it?
