That works if {nitcu} means "x1 needs x2 to be true
(so that x3 is also true)".

I shoulda checked the place structure. Put a fi in front of those ledu'u clauses (which perhaps should be lenu). You may want to put ce'u in place of da, since it is a sumti reference to the unspecified x2. (As usual, I am winging it WRT ce'u rather than really understanding it).

The point is that you are not claiming that you need a specific thing, but you need a place filled in an event or process.

Do you mean to propose that to be the only way to use
{nitcu}, or as an extension of its basic meaning?

No.

If we can say that, then it is useful to also be able
to say:

mi nitcu lo'e tanxe le du'u setca lei vi cukta ty
I need a box to put these books in.

mi nitcu fi lenu setca lei vi cukta ce'u poi tanxe (vo'e? depending on what it means these days, or maybe ri to avoid the question)

which might back-translate as
I need that these books be inserted into something which will box them.
in case I've mangled things unrecognizably.
