Re: [romconlang] Re: On orthgraphies

It comes out weird. Just for you, I'll stick a few words from "P1" below.

This is all very early stages - I've got the main consonant changes in place, but some of the more complicated ones (like the w, f, and v > b haven't been sorted out (I need to find my old notes on that, and I can't remember right now where I left them). Most of the main vowel/diphthong shifts are in place too, but a lot of the "umlauts" are very provisional partly due to my incomplete old uni notes ( I really must find those...) and partly because I know I'll need to think some more on it again once I start in on the Grammar. I'm also not sure yet which vowels will get dropped, and which will be saved - mainly because I'm still unsure about stress.

Anyway, below are a few words, along with a transcription into pseudo standard German orthography, and a stab at something roman-like (mostly french - strong influences from Gaul/the Franks), but with some italian thrown in where French is "missing" a phoneme (mainly /ai/, /oi/ and /ts/). I think ultimately it might be nice to have something like a bairisch spelling, but I'm completely ignorant about that at the moment, so Hochdeutsch will have to do.

Cool! How does it come out?
  ...
Let's see some examples with both. I can't make up my mind without a chance to see both
  sides.
