Were they part of the same project? Have you lost your notes about this one, too? Actually, I remember you made mentioned several other projects on RomanceConlang (Dn, f.ex.). If there's anything you'd like to see added to the list, please do tell! > Also, here's an idea: rather than classifying the languages on > geography or substrate, why don't we do it by genetic similarity > (as is becoming common in*here's* romance linguistics)? I won't deny that your scheme is far better than mine. Remember though that I was primarily concerned with conlangs, and that any "deeper" qualification would present me with new problems; I simply lacked the info to be more exact than I was. > For example, Catalan and Occitan are more closely related to each > other than either is to Spanish or French. Sure. It's one big continuum after all; any line drawn will be arbitrary to some degree. Excellent schedule, BTW. > --Northern Romance > ----Slezan > ----Slvanjec > ----Wenedyk Actually, Benct and I decided to call it "Northeast Romance". Genetically they are closer to West Romance than to East Romance, although it can be argued that they are a separate third subgroup. > Jelbazech forms its own subgrouping withing the Easten Romance > branch Eastern Romance? Tht's interesting! > -PROTO-SARDINIAN > --Sardinian Don't forget Jovian! I probably has little more in common with Sardinian than that both split off relatively early from Latin, but there you are! That's why I called them "early split-offs". Carrajena and Uchunata also seem to have some relationship with Sardinian, no? jan ===== "If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito." ___________________________________________________________ALL-NEW Yahoo!
