--- Adam Walker skrzypszy: > I'm interested in how various nat- and con-romlangs > translate the Latin Hodie Christus natus est. Wenedyk: "Hedzej Chrystus siej naszczewy." > I'm specifically interested in the "natus est" part. Well, "siej naszczewy" is just a regular perfect. "Siej naszczer" is of course of verb of the third declension (regular perfect: root + -szy), but in the case of verbs with a root ending on -sk- the -wy of the other declensions was adopted. "Chrystus" is of course a later borrowing from Latin; compare "chrzyÅ?ciaÅ?taÄ?" (Christianity). Jan. ===== "If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito." ________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
