public image that conservative nobles like to give 
themselves in public.  Important men of state and
business who can't afford the emotional vulnerability,
in ancient Roman tradition...  who would rather confess 
to adultery with the housemaid than to an effeminate
waste of time such as romance.  =P

The commoners and the majority of the nobles don't
share that view though.
