Unfortunately excellence in email clients is like excellence in spouses; people don't agree, and in fact there is a faction (associated with the "mutt" client that I use) that holds that all email clients suck (but their favorite sucks the least). I think that if you can compose your soul in patience for some while, Mozilla Thunderbird (which is not yet to its 0.1 release, but is based on the current email client embedded in Mozilla) will be an excellent client for you.
