You misread my intent. Seems I can't express a compliment without it being taken wrong.

I didn't say the bit about the paper. I *asked* it, with much hope that it was true.

I praised your effort, and your confidence that you are making progress; I don't know that you are correct. I also hope that when you claim that you are learning neat stuff, that this will prove helpful to your career. This will make you happier in the long term and be beneficial to Lojban in having had a role in producing the great linguist Nick Nicholas.

This was not a blessing of your result as official Lojban doctrine, which I don't have the power to do. I am just very happy that when And despairs of the mess that is "SL", and Cowan does not, and you seem to be proving Cowan correct, that this is something I can appropriately express approval of.

and when you commit one, it's the end of Lojban as we know it? How do I get to be the good guy and you the bad guy?

I have confidence that when Nick Nicholas says something is working nicely, that it indeed is working, based on track record. I tend to do the same for Cowan. You guys have years of Lojbanic track record that I've agreed with far more than disagreed. I don't have that automatic confidence in the pronouncements of others.
