"su'olo'i nanmu su'o mei" is still more of a mouthful than "lu'oilau'i nanmu". More importantly, I personally won't consider tanru as a 'basic' way to anything. I consider tanru a deliberate opting for vagueness -- not a bad thing, but to be used only when vagueness is deliberately chosen.
