I just realized that there are at least three types of verb
according to their "slots":
(1) with slots for nouns - to give, to build, to take, etc.;
(2) for events - to cause, to hope, etc.;
(3) for other verbs - must, can, to have to, etc.
The verb "to want" is actually three verbs:
(1) I want chocolate.
(2) I want you to come back.
(3) I want to swim.
If one uses the same word for them,
it's a clear case of what OO programmers
call "polymorphism".
