It's not that it _should_ have to, but as a result of the way the tongue
moves from one sound to the next, it is. When you say "n" and then "s",
you get an involuntary "t" in between.

Yes, I would. Are you capable of doing otherwise, without a pause in
between? The best I can do is to make the 'sh' part longer in "kan sha"
than in "kan cha".

The combinations "nts", "ntc", "ndz", and "ndj" are banned from Lojban
for this reason.
