Well, why not? After all, Dutch and German have "baby", borrowed from English.
For some strange reason, the word seems rather susceptible to borrowing.

Anyway, Wenedyk has _nieparl\arz_, which is a calque of Polish _niemowlak_
(from _nie-_ "not" and _mow-_ "to speak"). Funny you asked, because this is a
word I coined quite recently.
