"He heard her singing in the garden."

This can mean both

"He heard that she was singing in the garden." and
"He heard her while she was singing in the garden.

"Li aŭdis ŝin kanti en la ĝardeno."
"Li aŭdis ŝin kantantan en la ĝardeno."
