When I thought about the French suffix '-on' and a bit later about the name for Rome, which is 'Rome' in French too, I came to the idea that the change did not occur before a nasal. Still the Chrestomathy contains the name Antunia. I did not check it, but I think the change from long 'e' to 'i' also did not occur before a nasal. French 'femme' could be an example, because long 'e' did usually change to 'oi', as in 'roi'. Probably such things are widely known, but I like to have something to write about.
