Working on different stages at the same time could also help to imitate irregularities seen in natlangs text from different times. If one works out the stages like all of theme were the current one, like making time travels progressing developments would be better, I think. The first possibility is like you are in the time of the most modern variety and looking at some old texts. Is 'pliada' created from '*plattus' with no rule? I don't know what "botched up" means. Is 'pliada' feminine? For my language I would create 'blatos'. I am not sure if the full form should have 'us' or 'os'. Most people would say 'blats' or use a schwa. In some words following 'u' or 'i' leads to an umlaut. The italian names for roman deities are the same as those in days of the week. Spanish got the latin forms. I wonder how that happened. Adam, why don't you know how the Age of Exploration started? Rumantsch got the digraph 'tg' for approximately 'tx'. It comes from the gallolatin 'xt' which was also sometimes spelled as 'xt'. Perhaps it sounds a bit like 'tS' through assimilation. I don't know when metathesis happened. 'Tg' also stands before 'a' instead of 'c' in many dialects. From late Latin on 'tS' was sometimes spelled as 'ts'. I think somebody here told me that it is that old. The voiced 'dZ' can be written 'dz' in that tradition.
