I don't really have an answer for you, Bindipu (that's your Carraxan name!), but I agree with David that natlang choices are not always consistant. That said, I think I made some poor choices in the spelling of Carraxan. If I were doing it over, I would make different choices. For example, I don't think I would choose ñ to spell /J/ today. Actually, I would now prefer an n with a hook on the left leg, though I can't find such a beastie, basing it on a ligature in the Benvetan hand. I also think that using ch for /tS/ and x for /S/ ma not have been the best choices, and dj for /dZ/ has sparked more than one question about spelling reforms.
