I used to teach that book to my 8th grade classes. It's a fun way to teach a lot of literary concepts and an easy book to do either papers or projects on. the one drawback is having to teach the history of the whole Russian Revolution and Cold War before they have any idea what's being parodied. All of that was a bad memory long before they were ever born. It was the nightly news for me wwhen I was their age. They never lived a day when there was any such thing as a Soviet Union.
