Both have disadvantages: As Padraic said, for the average artlanger, the word 'disadvantage' wrt. to properties of languages is a strict nono. On this list and on the main Conlang list and on most of its offspring lists, we like to talk about any language, no matter what the design goals are (including the goal to create an IAL), we talk about the structure, grammar, sound shifts, vocab, way of creation, comparison with other languages, and whatnot, but what is not discussed here to prevent serious flame wars is whether particular design goals have advantages or disadvantages. Those are left to personal taste and taken as given. Words like 'easy' or 'difficult' are offensive to many people here for the same reason: they imply advantage or disadvantage, resp. That's just not an issue here. For discussions about auxlangs (IALs), which many of us find very interesting, there is the auxlang list. It was created because of serious wars. Due to wars, topics had to be separated. So the answer to your question is quite easy: wars separated us. But actually, often not the people or the languages were separated, but only the topics -- many people are on both lists to discuss both kinds of the topics. **Henrik
