There are. Older inscriptions and manuscripts use Kufi, more recent ones in Arabic world - Naskh, Persians (and Urdu?) write with Nastalik. But they differ as much as major Latin font styles, e.g. Arial Regular and Times Italic. Arabic script may be modified only by adding (or removing, as in Urdu letter "nasalization sign") diacritics. The words of the Sacred Qur'an must be preserved intact in any language that uses Arabic script, even if they are pronounced with local accent. -- Yitzik
