There is some culture in the World (forget where just now - out in the Ocean, somewhere) the priests of which blow glass balls and seal prayers within. At certain times, they toss the balls out into the waters where they're whisked away and, presumably, the Powers take over from there. Got the idea from my cousin. There are other peoples around the ocean who believe that these vessels contain entrapped ghosts or ill spirits, and it is very bad luck to break one. A person who breaks one of these vessels under someone's house could be charged with sorcery.
