It is a small evergreen tree. The fruit is used for a type of jam called "checerquén" (/tSeser'ken/). The wood is also apparently good for carving. My favorite plants from those islands have got to be Phoenix canariensis (the Canary Island Date Palm), which is the most common feather palm in california (very regal), and Pride of Madeira (Echium fastuosum) with deep blue flowers, and Tower of Jewels (Echium wildpretii), which are called "Tajinaste" on the islands. I can't seem to be able to find the origin of tajinaste... is it guanche or Spanish? __________________________ Hey Vanity, this vial's empty and so are you
