I don't remember how Romanian treats QU, but why not do what P-Celtic languages did with the Proto-celtic KW and make it become P? It wouldn't conflict withmatters of palatalisation IMHO. Of course, it may already be what Romanian does :)) . Christophe.
That's exactly what Romanian does. AQUA > APA EQUAM > IAPA QUATTUOR > PATRU but QUINQUE > CINCII don't find an example in the text I was consulting of a Latin word with QUO or QUU to show those developments, but I guess I could arrange for QU to go different directions depending on the following vowel.
QUA > pa QUO > po QUU > pu QUI > chi QUE > whe Does this look realistic?? Also, Romanian develops Latin ct > pt. So, I *might* do that too.Does anyone know if Algerian and Tunisian Arabic is closer to Egyptian or Moroccan?
Adam So lift the cup of joy and take a big drink. In spite of it all it's a beautiful world. -------Suzanne Knutzen _________________________________________________________________Join the world?s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
