lesson17

hello,
this is what i thought about lesson 17:

lesson17:
Peter wants to do the research on colored hummingbirds.
Casi Kapedebyo jaxonza bamwa te gecayji myu.
sts: is there one single verb in katanda for "doing research"? "to research"?

lesson17:
It seems that the bathroom is a very good room for
	  thinking.
Xedebe batsa nato to cansa xeva va vaspe sipsi.
sts: it's a tongue twister, right?

lesson17:
The spaceship is four kilometers above us in outer space.
Cidinda pengo pemi di pedwa pensande ponimosya vomu.
sts: hm. but the katanda sentence doesn't express that there are four kilometers between us and the spaceship. there are four kilometers of distance, that's all. "four kilometers" should in some way modify "above". something's strange.

lesson17:
Did the scientist persuade the ostrich to run a lot of
	  laps?
Kibe vibemba babyo xuji jaxecayskinza caydya xemu?
sts: how shall i analise "videmba"? "to give someone the high probability of". those deictics and modals... are very strange. and doesn't "ja-" resume the subject of the sentence? in that case the babyo persuaded the xuji that he, the babyo could ran a lot of laps.

lesson17:
The ducks flew near a tall skyscraper during their trip to
	  the ocean.
Pi ciski lenaji bupedi civu xunsa va gasande pemwa naho
	  dingu bisay.
sts: "gasande pemwa" sounds to me like "right after their trip". in order to say "during their trip" i would expect something like "mesande pemwa". what's wrong?

sts.
