Personally, I think that using a term like racist obscures more than it
reveals, though I admit that sometimes it is useful (e.g. I find that telling
my students that I think that accent prejudice is racist gets the point
home to them more effectively than other means).

As for your example, is it a leg-pull/a troll? It doesn't bear any resemblance 
to any variety of whorfism I've ever encountered. And I reckon, 
impressionistically, that manifestations of racism are less likely to be found
among professional linguists than among most other groups.
