Okay. As I see it, ni doesn't have ce'u, it has no symmetry with ka,

interested to see how feasible it is to maintain that it becomes
identical to jei.

Well, {ka} doesn't ne {ce'u} either,  though it most commonly has it, while {ni} apparently most commonly does not.  And, of course, {jei} with {ce'u} is clearly different from all of the others (though close to {du'u} with {ce'u} in extension).

This from a man who proposes myopic singulars as an explanation of something!

But the difference between ni & jei is analogous to (tho not synonymous
with) that between "the extent to which" and "whether". That's a
useful distinction in English, though I can see how it might also be
useful to be able to conflate them.

Conflation seems a bad idea, although it is useful to see whether and, if so, how, thye correlate with various bridi. How much tallness is needed to be truly tall?
