Re: Binary Trees by Tone

By the way, a simple expression like

"How much is 2 times 1 plus 1?"

should be understood as

"How much is 2 times (1 plus 1)?"

or

"How much is (2 times 1) plus 1?".

There are many ambiguities in natural sentences like

"I saw a monkey combing another brown monkey's hair with a yellow comb. It was very big!" ;

Which monkey had a yellow comb?
What was brown, the monkey or its hair?
What was big? Monkey 1, monkey 2, the hair or the comb?

They are usually resolved by context, but I wonder what is the best way to make unambiguous sentences with such a complexity sound as natural as possible. And I wonder if normal people on the streets would naturally and effectively deal with such a syntactic structure. Anyway, I don't if this is the goal of most engelangs.
