If I borrow German 'Himmel,' should it be realized as himl, himle, or himla (himel would be hi-MEL and too much of a distortion, I think.). Or is there another way you can think of?"himl" with syllabic /l=/ would be closest to the German, but I don't think an auxlang should use syllabic consonants (or final clusters like "ml"). So I would go with "himla" if you can't find a better source word. (What about Latin "coeli" > "koili" or French "ciel" > "siel"? Or Chinese "tien"?)
Agree with the himla. I might pick another word, but what I'm looking for is a good pattern to borrow words of the same form from German, English, and probably some French, which all tend to have - el, -em, and -er unstressed endings. And I think the himla pattern is good for that.
