How does that sound? Well, that's precisely the point of having pre-glottalized syllable-initial allophones for the vowels. The period (I assume you're talking about the Lojban letter that represents the glottal stop/pause phoneme) would be inherent in them whenever they start a syllable, so that a word like 'a' would sound in fact as [?a] even though it would consist of just one phoneme /a/ and a word like 'aa' /aa/ would sound as [?a.?a]. If the glottal stop is not going to be a separate phoneme, I don't really find any good reason for not having V and VV words. Best regards, Javier
