sentence intonation

I'm trying to come up with some interesting intonation patterns, so that the language doesn't sound monotonous. I'm thinking of ("Yen vaxeb yaras.."!) a high or rising tone on the interrogative "ga", and maybe distinctive intonations for specific parts of speech, especially disjuncts, verbs, and nouns.
When I read this text, I tend to use English intonations, although without the yes/no interrogative pattern. I'm not familiar enough with intonation patterns of other, more exotic natlangs (African, Asian, etc.), so I'm forced to create them from scratch.
Any ideas?
