I first used the idea for a Germanic language. Only later I thought one could make a Romance one from it too. It would be a language where evevery archaic element that is still around in any of the other Romance languages is used. And that would be only such which are so old that every one of them at one point had it. But if something is lost everywhere I would not use it at all. The only exeptions would be words or grammatical features which deviated so early that none of the modern language still has what they originally had in common. For example if there was a Latin word and every Romance language replaced it by something else and every one of them chose something different, the Latin word is chosen. If a stage could be identified where they all had a different word from Latin, but not the same as most of them have nowadays that word would be chosen. Same goes for sound changes. This method would circumvent many problems that arise if one tries to build an average Romance language.
