Do you use a version in a romance language to compare? Are you getting along well? I read Rhaeto-Romance to have very archaic religious vocabulary. Maybe I should learn some of it to find out more about phonetical development. It got for instance 'battegiar' meaning baptize showing the vulgar latin outcome of the suffix '-izare'. Church is 'baselgia' from 'basilica'. There is some paper about that.
