I'm finding that the earliest stages of my lang are seeing the VL names evolve quite considerably, even though the sound change rules are quite modest and not too far away from the western Romance changes: *jenuarius / *januarius *thebruarius / *februarius *martius *appriles *maus *junius *julius *ouchs *seftjember / *septjember *octur / *octjember *number *deatjember By the time I've added another 1000 years' worth of extra changes they are going to be extremely different indeed. I'd like them to be different, but not so different they don't slot in neatly with the closely related Romance languages *here. This is why I'm pondering if some of the forms *here had been re-borrowed later as they are pretty conservative. Or a preserving influence from ecclesiastical Latin maybe? There are even some which have etymologies different from other languages. October, november and december are loans and I don't know if there are alternatives. June is in some places called zercladur and July fenadur. /Thomas
