Some clusters remain in Spanish borrowings (iskuwela) -- would they all disappear in AN-R?
It depends upon the direction one wants to take it. If one wants to make it look like PAn, then probably. But Roger even says that later languages have no problems with clusters (and Tagalog doesn't have much problems with them it seems)
Sounds reasonable. Latin was already reducing its clusters (dlingua > lingua) etc. Sounds like AN-R would continue the trend.
It might even be easy to hack apart Spanish to get results. Of course, then it would be Austronesian-Spanish ;). Grammarwise, I'm wondering how much could one tinker with the grammar to give it the appearance of Austronesian influence, but not totally kill the Romance structure? One idea I can think of is a VSO order: Tenyo yo il papel - I have the paper Of course, with the vowels, they could be reduced to the basic a i u: tinyu yu il papil Though, I can imagine all of the homophones which would crop up.
