I've sent a couple of emails back to Roger Mills to see what the
sounds of PAn were, and maybe get an idea of how Tagalog evolved from
it.

I'm not sure I want to do a whole "Latin-Austronesian" language, but
it would be fun to poke around with various words.

Here is his first response:


 Cool! I've never met anyone from Zamboanga, so
 haven't heard Ch. spoken. Looks kind of like
 Spanish peppered with Tagalog bits-n-pieces.


I wrote in my other response that a friend of mine was from Zamboanga.
Turned out her Grandfather was a feared man because he was the warden,
I think of the prison there. But it's odd to listen to, especially if
you know Spanish.
