Aquilonian

I am interested in "re-"constructing the Aquilonian language, which
would have been spoken in the kingdom of Aquilonia, during the
Hyborian Age, in which Conan was a notable hero in Robert E Howard's
stories.

Little is known of the language, save a few personal and place names,
which seem to be Latin. The culture seems to be 15th century France,
but the dating of the stories is placed at 10,000 BCE, that is, fantasy.

I'd like to construct a language based on Latin, or Estruscan-Umbrian
roots with a nod to the ancient past. I'd like to simplify the
grammar, making verbs as regular as possible, and losing a few cases,
as I believe was done with Old French...

How do I proceed? Any indeas, or suggestions?

Thanks!
