Since we are dealing with conlangs here, I think it is inevitable
that the connection between languages of the same group are much
looser than they are *here*. A logical consequence of the fact that
most projects are strictly individual. Wenedyk too shows features of
both Western and Eastern Romance (mostly the former, but no -s
plurals).

I like the idea of a Southern group, even though it will include many
languages that have little or nothing in common. Anyway, the
alternative would be creating twenty or thirty subgroups, which would
make classification rather pointless.

For your comparison: the same is the case with the so-called "North
Slavic" languages (altogether, between five and ten). But, despite
their differences all these languages seem to have several elements
in common too. It would be interesting to find out if the same is the
case with Southern Romance...
