I wouldn't know the exact number of them, but let's see... Hindi, 
Punjabi, Romani, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu... that's about what I can 
think majorly. There's probably more dialects than that, but that's 
what I can think with what I can remember. Like Latin, Sanskrit was a 
language of the educated, and it broke down into dialects, like the 
Romance ones.
