How about "marreju" as hammers in general, and "mizdraga" as a specific type?

"Minoru". Unless "mindru" is a colloquial term and "minoru" were to be it's learned eqluivalent.

Also under concideration is the following triplet: Medigu (native word) - doctor, surgeon < Lt. medicus Medicu (learned) - medcal, healing, medicinal < Lt. medicus Medichinali (semi-learned) - medicinal < Lt. medicinalis
