I am at least attempting to cross post this to both the old and the new lists. I've been working on disease names in Carrajena and started thinking about something. Currently C-a exists up to about 1400 or 1500 (weekly vocab's notwithstanding). English has a lot of old folk names for diseases. Many of these are still in current use alongside the modern techical terms. Others are terms I was unfamiliar with until I started researching my family tree and going through old death registers looking for ancestors. Below is a list of some of these folk terms. What I'm wondering about is what are some equivilant folk terms in real or con romance langs? the piles black tongue fever black water fever the hyderphobie the rheumatiz the heebie jeebies fever 'n' ague the summer complaint the congestion the consumption the itch heart trouble stomach trouble the bloody flux the vapors having a spell palpatations Some of these are, of course, either corruptions of techincal terms or extended applications thereof. And of course I'm open to any and all additions to this list in its English or Romance versions. Adam ===== Il prori ul pa雝veju fi dji atexindu mutu madji fached. -- Carrajena proverb
