"fudi"

Rick,
Here's the K-E definition of "fudi":

>fudi - in, inside (of), within, within the boundaries of.

Are the boundaries of a body of water the 1-dimensional edge of the surface of the water or the 2-d boundary (surface and all the bottom too) which contains the entire volume of water, or either one, depending on the context?

Here is an example of "fudi" in K-E that doesn't seem to be strictly literal:

>bova - self, oneself. Vezdisna mi bova fudi naze = I can see myself
    in the water. Keep in mind that "bo-" can also be applied directly
    to the verb: Bovezdisna mi fudi naze = I can see myself in the water.

I understand this to mean that I see my reflection off the water.  Since I'm not actually in the water, can this be considered a true statement if I only see my reflection there?

Similarly, is a boat sailing on a sea said to be "fudi naze" ('in the water')?  In Russian, for example, the equivalent term is "na vode" ('on the water').  It seems that "vodi" ('on (the surface of)') would be most accurate here.
