lesson30: tibyo - musician, music maker tida - thank (for), give or offer thanks, express gratitude sts: and how do we say "to sing"? lesson30: timwa - music (the performance) sts: and how do we say "to perform music" in one word?we already use "ns" in order to say "the quality of a generic subject that does" and we add it to the verb. why there arent similar ccms in order to substitute "mwa" and "byo"? their meaning simply would have to be "the doing of a generic doer to a generic *doner*"="mwa" and "a generic doer"="byo". do you know what i mean?
lesson30: 2. If you have not already done so, re-read the part of section 6.0 that discusses the Apply/Use noun CCM "-ks-". We will practice using this CCM and the word "xoksa" in this lesson. sts: but you already told me to do so in the beginning of this lesson! ;) lesson30: 3. The word "bucasku", meaning 'to steal', is unlike the other exchange verbs that we've seen so far because the person robbed is not a willing participant. Thus, we cannot use 0/AP "vafte" to indicate the victim because it would imply that he shared responsibility for the theft. We also cannot use "vaspe" because it is too vague. The only way to identify the victim is to modify the argument structure to indicate the patient that was directly affected by the theft. Thus, A/P/F-d "bucaskumba" means 'to steal F from P': Bucaskumba tumi kobyo kotoy = You stole the book from the teacher. sts: then Caskumba tumi kobyo kotoy would be "you donated the book to the teacher (without asking him/her)."btw, in german you can have this argument structure sayting "berobbing", as to speak:
Bucaskumba tumi kobyo kotoy koho = Du beraubtest den Lehrer seines Buches. but it sounds a bit odd. lesson30: The cooking oil is in the refrigerator but I don't think that I have enough for all of the meat that has to be cooked. Fudinda tiswa bumespu nane bube xebenza mi tenda mi geamunti vaspe cayvyu vimu te vidu pamegompa cayhi. sts: vaspe -> vaspu lesson30: Each of those musical toys that the children are having fun with cost more than nine dollars. Pi sebinsanda viselumundaw lelitoy tizda niju te liskinza lebuxabyo lihi dolasya komu xeku. sts: tizda -> te tinto
