epistemic modals vs. their verb forms + "mi"



Rick,
Lesson 30 has this sentence:
>   I doubt that my daughter will thank you for cleaning the
      sink and the bathtub.
    Fobenza mi goy tida nipu foy tumi janagompa nasyu ne
      xenasyu.

Doesn't "fobe" mean "it seems doubtful to me that..."?  Thus, "fobenza mi" is 
synonymous with "fobe", and the sentence above could also be rendered as:

    Fobe goy tida nipu foy tumi janagompa nasyu ne xenasyu.

This would also be true for the rest of the epistemic modals (i.e., those 
ending in "-be").  Is there any difference between the two forms?
