Sorry, but "were" is correct formal English.  "Was" is more colloquial.

one more thing i wanted to tell you: learning katanda i'm learning english, too. :)

 sts: can't we say something like "the table got clean." and  "the
 laps got run"?


No, because use of "get" implies that there is no agent.  "To get clean"
= "nagonka".

that's my point. the middle voice implies that there is no agent expressed, i thought. so "to get clean" (middle voice) = "managompa" = "nagonka". no?
