There's the Bible, specially the Tower of Babel
story (Genesis 11) and the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6),
which seem to be customary sample texts for comparing
conlangs.  Jesus' parables are suitable.
Aesop's fables are also pretty short, and there are several public
domain translations you can work from.
Andersen's fables and Grimm's fairy tales are longer, but not terribly 
long.
