I, for one, like "gra" from the Greek. It has a natural relationship with an already existing word: "gram", meaning mail. Mail (in most of the world) is still text-based writing so I feel there is a logic to it. Alternatively, consider "text" as a source word... How about "tek"? There didn't seem to be any other words presently starting with tek, so this will not overlap in the existing morpheme-space. -----Original Message----- From: Rex May - Baloo [mailto:rmay@hidden.email] Sent: Saturday, April 10, 2004 07:20 To: ceqli@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [ceqli] write on 4/10/04 7:39 AM, Rex May - Baloo at rmay@hidden.email wrote: > The possibilities for 'write' as it stands: > > skri - Rumanian > kyan - Thai > kna - reversal of "kan," read. > xye - Mandarin > xray - truncated German > gra - truncated Greek > sti - French 'stilo' > stay - English 'stylus' > or "tol" from the Hungarian for 'pen.' -- Rex F.
