Not "ke", it's the "that" just like its Esperanto namesake, that makes a sentence into a clause that can then be the object or subject of a sentence. > -or- > "Go pomo xi hu pena to dom." This use of "xi" is offbeat but parallels the English way. It can be that or "Go pomo to jini hu pena to dom." (You might be helping her paint, or you might be giving her advice, or money, or encouragement!) > -or- > "Go pomo to pena to dom de xi." That one is possible, and very Mandarin, but I would guess less popular than the "hu" form. Equivalent, though. > > ? > > I'm asking all these hypotheticals in preparation for building drill > sentences. Gabon! Lately, when I pronounce ceqli sentences aloud, I find that, partly in an attempt to avoid schwas and to distinguish between single words and compound words, I'm clipping the words, making them sound less Romance and more German, in fact, I sound a lot like Mojo Jojo when I speak ceqli.
