Thanks, "du" conveys the idea of performing an action upon something else, that is, that the action "comes out" of the subject, rather than being experienced by him (that one would be the meaning of "qi"). "ge" conveys the idea of "triggering" an action, that is, that the subject is not the one who performs the action (the action does not "come out" of him) nor the one who experiences it, but just its "promoter".
